RSPP welcomed U. S. Deputy Under Secretary for International Trade Michelle O’Neill for a conference with Russian businessmen scheduled to coincide with the U. S. delegation to Moscow, Samara and St. Petersburg.
President of the Russian – American Business Council (RABC) Mr. David Yakobashvili thanked Ms. O’Neill for regularly participating in public discussions with Russia – U. S. Business Dialogue member organizations.
The regularity of such meetings is brought into special prominence by the fact that Ms. O’Neill is coordinator of the Business Development and Economic Relations working group of the U.S. – Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission.
Russian business circles were represented by all the leading business associations of Russia, RSPP, ‘Delovaya Rossiya’ (‘Business Russia’), the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ‘Opora Russia’.
To date, the Business Dialogue, has hosted two top-level business summits featuring heads of state (one in Moscow in 2009, the other in Washington D. C. in 2010 г.) and is currently in charge of arranging the fifth Russia – U. S. Roundtable due to take place during the St. Petersburg Economic Forum. The Business Dialogue also receives delegations composed of American businessmen.
Russia’s accession to the WTO marks a breakthrough in Russia – U. S. bilateral relations, first and foremost along business lines, because, Mr. Yakobashvili remarked, “business is the best diplomat and ambassador”.
RSPP Managing Director for International Cooperation Mr. Andrey Kuznetsov suggested that companies looking for American partners should submit their projects and propositions along the Business Dialogue lines to Deputy Under Secretary O’Neill for distribution among U. S. companies and keeping track of their response.
