The RSPP Congress was held within the annual Russian Business Week on March 19, 2015. RSPP President Alexander Shokhin in his opening statement highlighted the key conclusions from the RSPP report on business climate in Russia and the main areas of the RSPP work for the forthcoming year. He emphasized the RSPP commitment to collaborate with the government on the anti-crisis programme and structural reforms implementation.

The Congress was addressed by the Russian Ministers - Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov, Minister of Economic Development Alexey Ulyukaev and Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov. The ministers outlined the measures the government undertakes to address the challenges Russia's economy faces, including measures to support the business under the current conditions.

The international business working in Russia position was presented by Mr. Philippe Pegorier, Chairman of the Association of European Business (AEB), President of Alstom in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus and Mr. Michael Harms, Head of the Russian-German Chamber of Commerce (RGCC). Mr. Pegorier emphasized that the European business opposes the mutual economic sanctions which damage economic growth, employment, and prospects for a global economic recovery. Mr. Pegorier and Mr. Harms presented the position of the AEB and RGCC on such initiatives as localization and import-substitution.

The RSPP Congress` key outcomes and messages were presented by the RSPP President Alexander Shokhin to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. In his address to the delegates Vladimir Putin noted that “it is only through a partnership between the state and businesses that we can overcome the unfavourable economic situation discussed here and achieve stable growth, and this, in turn, is impossible without trust, without a common understanding of the nation’s strategic goals and consideration of each other’s interests.”

After the Congress the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin met with the RSPP Board members.
