The first chapter of the IMF working paper “Frontier and Developing Asia: The Next Generation of Emerging Markets” analyses the frontier Asian countries, in particular Bangladesh, Cambodia and Viet Nam.

The author points out that the frontier Asian countries have a great potential and attract closer attention as investment destinations because growth in emerging economies has decelerated recently. The main feature of these countries is that their investment rankings are not high enough so far and securities are underestimated. Thus, taking into account high growth rates of these countries, their securities present good yield prospects.
