"It's necessary to develop the SCO Energy Club to make it a more efficient organisation," Viktor Kalyuzhny, Head of the Secretariat of the Russian national part of the Club, said at a roundtable hosted by the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency. The roundtable, "SCO Meeting in Astana: Cooperation Issues," was devoted to the upcoming SCO Council of Heads of Government Meeting.
According to him, major expectations in this respect are placed on the 4th SCO Moscow Business Dialogue International Business Forum, which will be held on December 3 in Moscow. He believes that this forum will give an impetus to the development of the SCO Energy Club and will highlight its main goals.
The expert also believes that the SCO Leaders should demonstrate their interest in this project, as this would in turn stimulate the interest of relevant companies. To date, all necessary documents and financing options have been developed and negotiations have been held with some companies on their possible participation in this project.
"I believe that energy was, is, and will be a unifying factor," Mr. Kalyuzhny concluded.
