Russian-Indian talks emphasized the importance of Asia-Pacific cooperation

On December 11, 2014 Russian-Indian talks were held which concluded with Joint Statement Druzhba-Dosti: A Vision for strengthening the Indian-Russian Partnership over the next decade. The Statement highlights the importance of cooperation within multilateral forums, in particular APEC. In energy cooperation Russia and India committed to follow the ‘APEF Ministerial Declaration’ and ‘Plan of Action on Regional Cooperation for Enhanced Energy Security and the Sustainable Use of Energy in Asia and the Pacific’, endorsed by UNESCAP Resolution 70/9.

In their statement the parties have supported the evolution of open, balanced and inclusive security architecture in the Asia-Pacific region based on collective efforts, considering legitimate interests of all states of the region and guided by respect for norms and principles of international law.
