Russia’s Economic Development Minister: in perspective share of the Asia-Pacific region may hit more than 40% of Russia’s foreign economic ties

At the same time, the minister emphasized that there are no talks of reorienting Russia’s economic and trade relations from Europe to Asia in relation with the policy conducted by the European countries.

Share of the Asia-Pacific region may hit more than 40% of Russia’s foreign economic ties. That is according to the Russia’s Minister of Economic Development Alexey Ulyukaev who spoke to “Novosti ATR” (that is “ the Asia-Pacific region News” in Russian), whose issue has been published in anticipation of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.

He pointed out that now namely the Asia-Pacific countries hold positions in Russia’s economic relations, left by our European partners by force of circumstances.

Unfortunately, they will not be able to get back easily to the “niches” they occupied. These are the world’s market competition rules – sail Ulukaev.

At the same time, he underlined that there are no talks of reorienting Russia’s economic and trade relations from Europe to Asia in relation with the policy conducted by the European countries. In fact, there is a diversification of geography of Russia’s exports and investment cooperation.

The Asia-Pacific region as a center of economic power plays an increasingly important role in the modern world. In perspective, regional countries’ share in Russia’s economic relations may hit more than 40%.

Ulyukaev stressed that necessity to improve Russia’s bilateral trade structure with the Asia-Pacific partners is obvious. Russia’s share in trade turnover and investment volume is inconsiderable among the regional countries and reaches only 1-2 percent – the minister added.
