As Foreign Ministry Spokesman Alexander Lukashevich told to TASS, Russia encourages BRICS rating agency establishment. “Therefore we are calling for a thorough analysis of whether it is feasible to create a BRICS rating agency or a system of interlinked rating agencies in each country. This work is already underway. For example, the Russian side has established contacts with China’s Dagong rating agency, which has a strong presence on Asian markets and cooperates with a number of Russian companies. Unlike Western agencies, Dagong acts in line with objective facts, rather than politically motivated criteria. The Dagong agency has recently assessed the Gazprom standing and given it the highest A1 rating. By contrast, the three leading US rating agencies have never upgraded Gazprom’s rating above BBB+. I believe that it would be appropriate for BRICS countries to expedite consultations on this issue of great importance for our economies.” – he said.
