RSSP meets Amsted Rail

On September 23 the President of the RSPP Alexander Shokhin met with Marcus Montenecourt the Vice-President of Amsted Rail. The American company specializes in making equipment for transporting heavy railway cargos. The Company is one of the world’s largest rolling stock components supplier. Amsted Rail has manufacturing facilities in more than 20 countries providing jobs for over ten thousand people.

Mr Montenecourt informed about the current situation at Saratov bearing plant into which $80 million dollars have been invested. The parties of the meeting noted that now there is a unique chance of supporting the plant’s capacities by reorienting some part of its export production, especially to the South-East Asia.

The RSPP’s President invited Mr Montenecourt to actively participate in the meeting of the international council for cooperation and investment that is scheduled to take place in December. The meeting will include Arkady Dvorkovich, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation who will participate in the discussion regarding the implementation of the import substitution plans. Besides, Mr Montenecourt confirmed intention of Amsted Rail to participate in the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in 2016 and Russia-US/North America bilateral business round table.

Alexander Shokhin urged Mr Montenecourt to participate in a practical way in the work of the RSPP’s Commission on machine engineering headed by the Chairman of Board of directors of JSC Transmashholding Andrey Bokarev.

The meeting was also attended by the RSPP’s Director of the Centre for bilateral cooperation Anatoly Drantusov.
