RSPP to engage Russian business in work of ABAC

On 7 April 2021, representatives of Russia’s three representatives of ABAC [Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Business Advisory Council] met via videoconference.

Sergey Mikhnevich, Managing Director of the Department for International Multilateral Cooperation and Integration of the RSPP, stressed that for Russian business, the Asia-Pacific region and cooperation with regional states and international institutions such as APEC are among the key international priorities. A common agenda for Russian business needs to be developed and promoted at APEC and other leading multilateral institutions of international cooperation.

He stressed that the RSPP is ready to help build engagement between Russia's ABAC representatives and the Russian business community in the preparation of ABAC position papers.

During the meeting, it was also noted that it would be worth increasing the involvement of Russian business in research and surveys conducted by ABAC, and it was also emphasised that the broad engagement of Russian business in the work of APEC, with the assistance of the RSPP, would bolster Russia's positions on this platform.

As a result of the meeting, the representatives of Russia’s three ABAC representatives agreed to continue working together to promote the interests of the business community at APEC.
