RSPP President Speaks at Social Partners Conference

Alexander Shokhin, B20 Chairman and the President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs spoke at social partners’ conference held within the framework of the Labour20 Summit, alongside President of the Independent Union Federation Mikhail Shmakov, IOE Executive Vice-President Daniel Funes de Rioja and International Trade Union Confederation Secretary General Sharon Burrow.

“B20 has been engaged in close cooperation with L20 all these months, mainly through its ‘Job Creation, Employment & Investment in Human Capital’ taskforce, their joint work resulting in a paper covering a variety of key elements of vocational training (B20 – L20), and a joint letter to the labour and employment ministers. Good job”, said Mr. Shokhin.

The discussion focused on the current employment environment and likely scenarios for the future.

It is vitally important that the G20 employment working group should by no means spread itself too thin and only stick to the principal task of tackling job creation, fostering entrepreneurship-friendly environment, resolving demographic challenges and implementing of B20 recommendations.

Mr. Shokhin also met the ILO Director General Guy Ryder to discuss the outcomes of the В20 Summit in St Petersburg, the key messages of the employers’ recommendations to the labour ministers and their expectations with regard to the upcoming G20 leaders’ meeting.
