The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs took part in the Russia G20 Presidency-related conference entitled “Fostering Economic Development and Sustainability”.
Speakers at the conference included the Russian G20 Sherpa, Head of the Presidential Expert Board Xenia Yudayeva, Deputy Finance Minister Sergey Storchak, B20 2013 Chairman, RSPP President Alexander Shokhin, L20 Chairman & Chairman of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions Mikhail Shmakov, representatives of G20 governments, employers’ associations and international organizations.
The chief priorities and the schedule of the Russian G20 presidency were announced during the plenary sessions, as were the results of the initial meetings of B20 outreach groups, Think20, Civil20, Youth20 and Labour20.
RSPP President and B20 2013 Chairman Alexander Shokhin summed up B20 aims and objects as follows: “We have before us the task of spearheading and generating efficient dialogue between private sector, business associations, international organizations and G20 heads of states”. RSPP, running the B20 since December 2012, will be paying special attention to the continuity of B20 traditions, said Mr. Shokhin. “We have kept all the topics for discussion within the B20 taskforces, with just some shift in focus due to the Russian presidency priorities that demand a particular involvement of the Investments and Infrastructure and Job Creation and Investment in Human Capital taskforces”. Mr. Shokhin expressed the hope that G20, the Russian G20 Sherpa Office and the Presidential Administration will be lending “all forms of support” to B20 initiatives.
