RSPP President Dr. Alexander Shokhin addressed XI Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona

RSPP President Dr. Alexander Shokhin participates in the XI Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona which takes place in Italy on 25-26 October 2018.

On 25 October Dr. Alexander Shokhin made a speech at the session “Current geopolitics and freedom of business”. According to RSPP President, significant geopolitical tensions and illegitimate restrictions are the new reality of international relations. The inescapable fact is that sanctions and exterritorial application of them restrict the freedom of doing business and curb economic growth. Russian and European companies are interested in maintaining and strengthening cooperation. In this regard Dr. Alexander Shokhin emphasized that new approaches to cooperation are needed, in particular to facilitate cooperation with the state bodies and public; to expand the use of international platforms and institutions to oppose restrictions; and to review international strategy of the business and diversify cooperation.

Other speakers of the session included Alexander Grushko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; Jin Xiaoming, Honorary Chairman of the Steering Committee of ITTN, Former Director of Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of China; Stefano Manservisi, Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development; Grigory Rapota, State Secretary of the Union State of Russia and Belarus; Tatyana Valovaya, Minister of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission and Alfred Von Liechtenstein, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the International Peace Foundation. Dr. Mark Entin, Professor at the MGIMO University, Ambassador of Russia to Luxembourg, 2012–2016 moderated the discussion.

The main topics of the XI Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona includes the geopolitical challenges at the Big Eurasia, cooperation prospects in finance, energy, industry, agriculture and new technologies.
