RSPP President Alexander Shokhin participated in the B20 International Business Advisory Council (IBAC) meeting held in Washington

RSPP President Alexander Shokhin participated in the B20 International Business Advisory Council (IBAC) meeting held in Washington on April 17, 2015 on the sidelines of the annual spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (April 17-19, 2015) as well as the G20 Finance Ministers meeting.

Alexander Shokhin, who is a member of the IBAC starting of the Council`s establishment in February 2015, emphasized the importance of the IBAC as a mechanism for promoting B20 continuity; enhancing inclusivity by bringing into the B20 consultations CEOs from non B20 countries and other stakeholders, including heads of international and regional organisations; and connectivity talking to G20 governments and advocating implementation of B20 recommendations.

RSPP President highlighted three B20 recommendations to the G20 Leaders which should be prioritized by IBAC in 2015: establishment of a Global Infrastructure Hub; increasing the level of alignment between the learning ecosystem and workforce needs; and review of prudential regulation to ensure restrictions on access to finance do not hamper financial inclusion, trade, commodity markets and finance for SMEs.

Alexander Shokhin welcomed the B20 Turkey initiative of holding a series of regional consultation forums for strengthening the dialogue and the non-G20 countries business priorities consideration in the B20 recommendations. One of the regional forums will be held within the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on June 18, 2015 in St. Petersburg. Alexander Shokhin noted that the discussion of the forum in St. Petersburg will focus on the G20/B20 priorities, first of all on the Turkey B20 recommendations to the G20 Leaders.

On the sidelines of the IBAC event Alexander Shokhin had a number of bilateral meetings, in particular with Daniel A. Russell, President and CEO of the U.S.-Russia Business Council (USRBC), Yu Ping, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Jabu Mabuza, President of BUSA (Business Unity South Africa), Saki Macozoma, President of Business Leadership South Africa and other heads of business associations and companies participating in the IBAC.
