RSPP President Alexander Shokhin, B20 Chair during the Russian presidency in 2013, representing Russia in the Troika this year, participated in the final B20 events in Brisbane on November 14-15, 2014. B20 meetings were held back-to-back to the G20 leaders` summit, and were followed by B20 dialogue with G20 leaders. B20 Turkey Presidency priorities were presented and discussed by the B20 in a special meeting.
In his statement at the B20-G20 dialogue Alexander Shokhin emphasized the importance of the business-led growth for implementation of the G20 members’ comprehensive country growth strategies. To stimulate it the G20 members should ensure better quality regulation, lower fiscal burden as well as structural reforms to increase productivity and create quality jobs.
RSPP President welcomed the establishment of the Global Infrastructure Hub as a depository of information on global infrastructure projects and a source of up to date investment best practices.
In conclusion, Alexander Shokhin emphasized the importance of well-functioning SMEs for the global recovery and job creation. According to him, the G20 member countries governments should prioritize measures to remove structural barriers to SMEs development, including in the areas of taxes and access to finance.
On December 1, 2014 the B20 presidency will pass to Turkey. B20 will work on recommendations to G20 within the task forces on trade, infrastructure and investment, human capital, financing growth, anti-corruption, SMEs and entrepreneurship. It is expected that Russian members of the B20 process will act as co-chairs of some the task forces to ensure consistency, continuity and quality of the B20-G20 engagement.
