RSPP President Alexander Shokhin: "Business security - in the first place"

The intention of the authorities to solve the problem with deofshorizatsion of economy quickly could cause negative consenquences, said the head of RSPP Shokhin in an interview to "Ogonek". He concerns about the amendments to the Tax Code, which are made without proper consultation with business.

"Excessively tough standards will inevitably create a high level of uncertainty for the Russian business and reduce its competitiveness in comparison with other countries. That means, our business from all the levels will start loosing Kazakhstan and Belarus competitors, because Russia is seriously inferior to the quality of the business environment not only to Western countries, but also to Kazakhstan, where the level of the tax burden on business is significantly lower. I should note: we are talking about our neighbors, partners in the Eurasian Economic Union. After all, for those Russian companies that have left the domestic boundaries and successfully conquered the world market, even without thinking about how to escape from the Federal Tax Service, the current version of the bill would result in a significant loss of competitiveness and curtailment of certain activities in foreign jurisdictions, for example, the freight "- said Alexander Shokhin.

RSPP President insists that tax savings is not a priority for Russian companies. "The main advantages of registration in offshore - structuring transactions according to common law and higher level of protection of property rights. For many companies in the offshore registration it’s a condition for a realization of the project, because it opens access to a particular asset, such as deposit. Thus in offshore jurisdictions not only "laundering", but also production units are working, "- said Alexander Shokhin.
