Alexander Shokhin`s visit to Munich, Germany on February 17-19, 2017 included participation in the German-Russian Business Breakfast with attendance of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and Russian and German business leaders. Dr. Shokhin also attended the key events of the Munich Security Conference and met with representatives of the RSPP partner organizations, namely German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, Federation of German Industries (BDI) and German companies.
In his intervention at the Business Breakfast Dr. Shokhin emphasized that the potential of EU and EAEU economic integration should be used. Mutually reinforcing trade in goods and services, direct investment between the member countries of the unions, formation of value chains, development of modern transport infrastructure will create stimuli to increase productivity of economy, technologies transfer, human resources mobility for sustainable economic development of the Euro-Asian space.
Over the past five decades, the Munich Security Conference (MSC) has become the major global forum for the discussion of security policy. Each February, it brings together more than 450 senior decision-makers from around the world, including heads-of-state, ministers, leading personalities of international and non-governmental organizations, as well as high ranking representatives of industry, media, academia, and civil society, to engage in an intensive debate on current and future security challenges.
