On June 21 in the framework of the B20 Summit in Saint-Petersburg the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and RSPP co-hosted a discussion on the topic “What Needs to be Done to Prevent Another Crisis and Generate Strong, Sustainable and Balanced Growth?”. Discussion with participation of the Heads of B20 Task Forces as well as business executives of major private companies, including from Mexico, Russia and Australia, was held in the format of the working breakfast.
The event was aimed at discussing challenges faced by private sector in the aftermath of the economic crisis and considering them through the lens of B20 and G20 priorities for next Presidency. Key issues included: Jobs Creation, Employment and Investment in Human Capital, Trade as a Growth Driver, Trust and Transparency, Financial Inclusion and Regulation, Investment, and New Sources of Growth.
The participants mentioned the importance of B20 contribution into successful implementation of the G20 decisions and emphasized the need to monitor G20 performance on implementing the commitments.
The draft report “From Toronto To Saint Petersburg: Assessing G20-B20 Engagement Effectiveness” prepared in the framework of the G20-B20 Dialogue Efficiency Task Force activities was presented at the meeting. The report includes assessment of the G20 members’ compliance with B20 related commitments.
The participants agreed to continue collaboration during the current and next B20 Presidencies.
