Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov said that Kazakhstan is looking for new areas to boost cooperation with Russia in the oil and gas sector.
Prime Minister Smailov met with Vagit Alekperov, chairman of the committee on energy policy and energy efficiency of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), in order to discuss implementing joint projects in geological exploration, developing oil fields, and modernizing drilling rigs, as well as logistics and taxation.
"Smailov stressed that the government of Kazakhstan was ready to continue joint work and find new areas for cooperation," according to the government's press office.
Alekperov expressed an interest in expanding investment in Kazakhstan and pursuing new projects.
