An international conference “European investors in the industrial projects in Russia” was organized at the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation on 30 November 2018. The event was attended by representatives of the Russian governmental authorities, companies and business associations, academic community and expert institutions of Russia and the European Union.
The discussion covered a wide range of issues, in particular, how sanctions and countersanctions influenced the EU FDI to the Russian economy after 2014; how investment strategies of the European companies in Russia have been changed; whether localization strategies of the European businesses in Russia effective; how border territories` potential could be used for developing Russia-EU investment cooperation; what is the role of small and medium business in this process.
Director of the RSPP Center for Multilateral Cooperation Sergey Mikhnevich addressed the second session of the conference “Practical participation of the European investors in the industrial projects in Russia”. He shared with the participants the European companies` experience of utilization of the Russian mechanisms of support, including special investment contracts and special economic zones, expansion of presence of the European investors in the Russian regions, as well as engagement with the Russian governmental bodies, in particular through the RSPP platform.
