Columbian Vice President Visits RSPP

RSPP Director for Labour Relations Marina Moskvina welcomed Columbian Vice President and candidate for the post of ILO Director General Mr. Angelino Garzón to RSPP headquarter at 10 Kotel’nicheskaya. Also present at the meeting were Columbian Ambassador to Russia Rafael Francisco Amador Campos, Foreign Affairs Minister Marcela Ordóñez, Columbian Embassy employees and Head of the RSPP Centre for Bilateral Cooperation Anatoly Drantusov.

Mr. Garzón talked about his proposed agenda as candidate for ILO Directorship and general issues of Russian – Columbian relations. “Columbian policies are pro-foreign investment / foreign investment friendly”. Among Columbian government’s priorities is creating a common free trade zone with Russia.

Mr. Garzón believes ILO policies should protect employers as well as employees and trade unions.

He also said he believed that, in order to stand up to contemporary challenges, ILO will have to revise its regulatory framework.
