The meeting of the BRICS Business Council held in Moscow on April 6, 2016 was attended by heads of national chapters of the Council, namely Mr. Sergey Katyrin, CCI of Russia, Indian - Mr. Onkar Kanwar, Apollo Tyres, Brazilian - Mr. José Rubens de La Rosa, Chinese - Mr. XU Lirong, China COSCO Shipping, Mr. Brian Molefe, Eskom Holdings SOC as well as business representatives of the BRICS countries.
The participants summarized the Russian BRICS presidency outcomes and discussed a draft report on the Council activities which will be presented to the BRICS leaders at their summit in India.
As Sergey Katyrin pointed out in his speech, the year of Russian presidency was a time of the important decisions and productive work of all national chapters, for example a first meeting of the heads of leading exhibition companies from BRICS countries was organized. Last year the BRICS Business Forum was held on the sidelines of the Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). It was decided to organize special BRICS sessions at SPIEF annually starting from 2016.
In 2016 two important events with BRICS representatives participation will be organized in Yugra Region (BRICS IT Forum) and Bashkortostan Region (BRICS SME Forum).
A programme of the BRICS Business Council activities during the Indian presidency as well as special projects were presented and discussed at the event.
