B8 - Business leaders’ meeting in Paris

RSPP President Alexander Shokhin was in Paris for the meeting of B8 – a group formed by the most representative business associations in the G8 countries, including the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs – hosted by MEDEF. The B8 discussed the best way to achieve, in a coordinated way, a stabilised international economic environment and a job-generating recovery in our economies. Politicians and businesses share the same objectives: growth and job creation.

The conference, spearheaded a couple of years ago by German entrepreneurs, is traditionally held on the eve of G8 summits, which allows the business community to best put their message across to the governments/heads of state. The meeting usually features heads of the eight countries’ biggest business associations: CBI (UK), BDI (Germany), Confindustria (Italy), MEDEF (France), Keidanren (Japan) RSPP, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

В8 meetings in Berlin (2006), Tokyo (2007), Paris (2008), Sardinia (2009) and Toronto (2010) have proved them as effective and flexible tool in the dialogue with foreign governments and business circles.
