Agenda of Russia’s SCO presidency discussed in Tashkent

A roundtable discussion on Russia's SCO Presidency in 2014-2015 was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The event involved diplomats of the SCO member states, observer states and dialogue partners, as well as representatives of academic circles and the arts community. The meeting was attended by Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) Zhang Xinfeng.

In his opening address to the meeting's participants, Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev said that Moscow supports SCO efforts to strengthen regional security, to fight terrorism, extremism and illegal drug trafficking, and to expand the organisation. He noted that Russia plans to conduct over a hundred events as part of its SCO Presidency. Of them, the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of victory in World War II will play a special role.
