RSPP Managing Director for International Cooperation Mr. Andrey Kuznetsov welcomed a delegation of the Japan-Russia Friendly Association to the RSPP headquarters on 17, Kotel’nichheskaya nab. The delegation was led by the Association President and MP Mr. Kunio Hatoyama and Vice President Mr. Kotaro Tachibana. Mr. Kuznetsov told the guests about a successful joint RSPP/KPMG project surveying investment environment of Russian regions. Mr. Kuznetsov suggested Japanese businesses join the project as well, telling the KPMG researchers what barriers they have had to face doing business in Russian regions. The results of the survey will be summarized at a joint RSPP/KPMG conference in 2012.
Other prospective lines of cooperation with Japanese companies may include rare metals in Yakutia or Russian healthcare market.
Mr. Kuznetsov said: “Foreign investors spend too much time knocking on various authorities’ doors asking for additional safeguards for their businesses in Russia which only results in slowing down their projects in Russia. I suggest they should rather take a shortcut via the RSPP International Council for Cooperation and Investments”.
